June 30, 2009
Bryan Ward, long-time manager of Ringwood Rovers and
USL's Master of Ceremonies, peacefully died on June 30, 2009,
after a year long battle with melanoma cancer. We will miss you,
Bryan!
Karen Ward:
Bryan Ward, husband of Sandra Ward of Ringwood, NJ, died peacefully at
age 60 on June 30, 2009, after a year long battle with cancer.
Born on May 26, 1949, Bryan
was the son of the late Raymond Ward of Stevenage, England and the
late Shelia Hart of Hastings, England. On August 2, 1972, Bryan
married Magdalena Schubert of Ingelheim, Germany, and they moved to
the United States. Bryan and Magda had three children, who they
raised together in Ringwood until Magda died in 1991. On June 19,
1993, Bryan married Sandra Sedgwick of San Jose, California. Together
they raised their six children in Ringwood.
Bryan was a devoted father,
husband, brother, friend, coach, mentor, and community leader. He
helped establish the Ringwood Rovers Soccer Club, served as a Deacon
at the Community Presbyterian Church, and was a member of the
Lakeland Board of Education for over ten years. In his last year, Bryan
and his family have been thankful and honored by all of the love and
support from his friends and the community.
Bryan, leaves behind his wife
and their six children: Peter Ward of Basking Ridge, NJ, Bryce
Hayes of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Karin Ward of Rockaway, NJ, Chris
Hayes of Hoboken, NJ, Christine Ward Burger of Mullica Hill, NJ,
and Andrew Ward of Ringwood, NJ. He is also survived by his grandson,
Kevin Ward, and his brother and sister, Christopher Ward and Lesley
Morgan, both of Stevenage, England.
Friends may visit with the
family on Tuesday July 14, 2009, from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 at the
Community Presbyterian Church in Ringwood, NJ.
A Memorial Service will be
celebrated for Bryan Ward on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at the
Community Presbyterian Church in Ringwood, NJ at 7:30 PM. In lieu of
flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the
Community Presbyterian Church in memory of Bryan Ward. Donations will
be distributed by the family to several organizations, including the
Ringwood Education Foundation, Ringwood Rovers Soccer Association,
and the Community Presbyterian Church.
